5.31.2010 Rainy Season

In my art as in life I have always been attracted to the abstract. There is always a sense of mystery surrounding any piece that leaves a face within the shadow of the distortion of detail brings new meaning to an old idea. Driving through the streets of Haiti, the rain came down in a torrent of noise and mass, and I found a new respect for the Haitian people as a whole.

And peering out of my window, I wondered how these incredibly resilient people were managing to survive yet another blow by mother nature. They were huddled under umbrellas w. trash bags wrapped around their heads or the precious goods which were their only livelihood. At yet, there is always an intense sense of dignity around them, even through the blurred, rain streaked window.
